United States Department of the Treasury Washington D.C. Attn: Mr. Jose Pedia July 15, 1996 Dear Sir: On April 26 of this year, an arrest was made in Macon, Georgia. This arrest alleged that members of the Macon militia were involved in the manufacture of un-registered explosive devices. On this same day, CBS news reported this militia group was preparing to operate against the Olympic games in Atlanta. A spokesman for the DOJ, publicly denied any connection between this militia group and the Atlanta Olympics, however, CBS refused to back away from their original statement. We have learned through two confidential sources, that you, in fact, were the spokesman who tipped CBS to this supposed connection. My question to you, sir, is whether you are prepared to confirm or deny these statements. If you choose to ignore this request, we will provide documentation to your superiors, and press, supporting these claims. Sincerely, Jeff Randall Route 1 Box 182 Gallant, Alabama 35972 cc: CBS News
