The analysis below is my own, and it should be made clear that I do not presume to speak for the Wilburns. The Wilburns are two very courageous Americans who have suffered much in their search for the truth. Other Oklahoma City victims have criticized the Wilburns for seeking to get McVeigh off the hook. Nothing could be further from the truth. None of the information that they or their many volunteer helpers have discovered (of which I am but one) exculpates Timothy McVeigh. McVeigh was the truck driver, and a key player in the plot. What we are after is the rest of the bombers and the murdering bastards that sent them and sheltered them after the fact.

ABC HIRES STEPHANOPOULOS. NOW YOU CAN ENJOY PURE AND UNFILTERED DISINFORMATION ON BEHALF OF THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION, OR:

"ABC'S TAINTED PUNDIT..."

That's how the headline on the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal this morning referred to George Stephanopoulos, ABC new star (or is it "Starr"?) employee. (Please see attached New York Times story for gushing announcement of same.)

Regular readers of the John Doe Times will recall the whispered intervention by Stephie in the upper levels of NBC management to kill, spike, delay (pick your own term) the Mike Boettcher piece on the Tulsa strip club witnesses.

They will also recall an earlier reported intervention by Herr Clinton's Minister of Disinformation in the delay of some OKC stories at ABC. Regular readers of the New Republic (hardly a purveyor of militia screeds) will recall Stephie's similar activities detailed there.

The American Spectator's Byron York, writing in the WSJ this morning asked: "If Mr. Stephanopoulos appears on any program dealing with one of these Clinton scandals, will ABC ask him what he knows?"

More to our concerns, of course, is the 20-20 "government prior knowledge" piece which is reported in editing and scheduled for broadcast the first week or so of January, 1997. Will Stephie use his new position to point out "problems" with THAT story? Can Stephie be trusted to keep his nose out of, and his hands off, the one story of 1997 guaranteed to bring down public condemnation on the FBI, secure the abolishment of the ATF, completely discredit the Clinton Administration and force its namesake from office?

Only ABC can answer that. But the very fact that ABC hired Stephanopoulos bodes ill for the general cause of press freedom and calls into question the network's independence from the central government's "party line."

THE DENVER POST LOOKS INTO OKC AND IS "SHOCKED, SHOCKED..." TO FIND A SECOND TRUCK, JOHN DOE #2 AND A HOST OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.....

"GO TO: http://www.denverpost.com" for a great effort by the the Denver Post to detail the movements of McVeigh and Nichols prior to the bombing, and in the process, illustrate the case for the second truck, John Doe #2 (no Virginia, they don't name Brescia) and many other compelling loose ends about the government's case. Of course, there's nothing here that you wouldn't already know if you subscribed to J.D. Cash's stuff in the McCurtain Gazette, but the fact remains that The Denver Post has a tiny bit bigger circulation than does "the best little paper in Oklahoma". This story should bode well for other major newspapers already sniffing around the John Doe story. Our hats off to reporters Steven Wilmsen and Mark Eddy for a massive job pretty well done.

Yes, folks, expect an article in the Philadelphia Enquirer in the next day or so detailing Kevin McCarthy's plea bargain and pointing the way to Manatawna Avenue (even if it may not name names even yet). Stephanopoulos Joins ABC as Contributing Correspondent

George Stephanopoulos, one of President Clinton's closest advisers, has been hired by ABC News as a contributing correspondent, completing the second pillar of a dual career he said he planned to pursue after leaving the White House.

The first pillar was established a week ago, when Columbia University named Stephanopoulos a visiting professor of political science. Although that two-year appointment begins in January, he will not begin teaching until next fall, so he will have time to get settled in the television world.

"More than anything, I didn't want to get too much into a single-structured job," said Stephanopoulos, 35, who received a bachelor's degree in political science from Columbia University and a master's degree in theology from Oxford University in England. "I want to think about policy and politics, and also share those thoughts. This combination allows me to do that."

At ABC, Stephanopoulos will contribute to various programs, but at the outset he will appear most often as a political analyst on "This Week," the Sunday morning news program with Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson as cohosts.

Eventually Stephanopoulos is expected to do some reporting as a correspondent, according to the network.

Roone Arledge, president of ABC News, called Stephanopoulos "one of the best known and most articulate presidential advisers this country has ever seen," adding that ABC News would benefit from Stephanopoulos' "vast knowledge of Washington politics and policy."

Stephanopoulos' hiring comes the day after ABC's chief White House correspondent, Brit Hume, resigned to join Fox News as its chief Washington correspondent and managing editor for Washington news. Hume, who had been with ABC for 23 years, and White House correspondent since 1989, will also contribute articles to The Weekly Standard magazine.

John Donvan will take over as ABC's chief White House correspondent.
