JOHN DOE #2 IDENTIFIED; BUT CAN WE GET THE FBI TO ARREST HIM? PART THREE By Mike Vanderboegh, 1ACR Mo10Cav@aol.com My favorite quote from Dennis Mahon, Aryan Nations Chief Puke and distinguished part-time citizen of Elohim City (John-Doeville, Oklahoma): "I hate the federal government with a perfect hatred. If I had a nuclear bomb, I'd put it in a truck and drive it right up to the Capitol Building in Washington and blow it all up, me included ..." HARD COPY interview. While Unterscheissfuhrer Mahon's premature death by his own hand would not be particularly upsetting to me, his sincere ambition to commit mega-mass murder and the irradiation of his own country's soil is particularly revealing. Morris Dees is right about just one thing: you cannot understand Oklahoma City without reading THE TURNER DIARIES. (This is of course no endorsement of Dees' scholarship . Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.) WE INTERRUPT THIS NARRATIVE FOR A JOHN DOE #2 UPDATE: FLASH: 27 June 1996. Michael Brescia, aka John Doe #2, is rumored by various media outlets to have crossed into Canada, after having been given the slip by the Philadelphia FBI. (NOTE: Yes, I meant "after having been GIVEN the slip.") Whether he is still in company with Esther Millar, his strikingly beautiful fiancee (and winner of the 1995 Coldhearted Aryan Bitch Award) is not certain at this time. I called an FBI contact of mine to report this rumor and asked him, "So, are you going to notify the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that a suspect you're NOT looking for is in their country?" Perhaps Dudley Do-Right can do better than the vaunted FBI. Another question for the FBI: "Are you ready to arrest a certain Clinton-appointee federal prosecutor and charge him with obstruction of justice?" RETURN TO JOHN-DOEVILLE, OR: "WHAT'S A PRETTY GIRL LIKE YOU DOING IN PLACE LIKE THIS?" When we last left Michael Brescia, he had just been introduced to Elohim City and its antisemitic "Racist Rainbow Coalition" of residents, distinguished visitors, and recently deceased (Richard Snell) by Pennsylvania Aryan thug Mark Thomas. "In recent years, Thomas has emerged as one of the up and coming leaders of the white resistance movement. A former organizer in Pennsylvania for the Invisible Empire of the Ku Klux Klan, he has been a frequent visitor on the rar-right circuit, showing up at the Aryan Nations gatherings in Idaho and delivering a eulogy for Robert Miles, the Michigan far-right leader who died in 1993. In early 1995, Thomas hit the headlines after he was linked to two young skinheads, David and Brian Freeman, who murdered their parents in Salisbury township, Pennsylvania. Thomas denied any connection to the Freeman brothers beyond saying that they had once visited his home. Thomas had visited Elohim City a number of times before the Oklahoma City bombing, and has become friends with Millar. Thomas also knew Andreas Strassmeir, the mysterious German... Strassmeir, whom Thomas described in an interview with the VOICE as a 'nice, quiet, classically educated European,' was according to various reports either in charge of 'security' or conducted paramilitary training for members of the community. Strassmeir is the person whom McVeigh allegedly tried to call at Elohim City shortly before the Oklahoma City bombing." (THE VILLAGE VOICE, April 23, 1996.) Hmmmmm....... Oh, in case I haven't mentioned it, Michael Brescia is almost a dead ringer for the John Doe #2 sketches circulated by the FBI immediately after the bombing (before they got "John Doe myopia" -- "John Doe, who's that?"). A man matching Brescia's description has been identified by eyewitnesses located by the Wilburns (and known to the FBI) as having been in the company of Michael Fortier, Andreas Carl Strassmeir and Tim McVeigh in the Herington, KS area in the summer of '92 up to just before the bombing. Some of the wilder girls of Herington knew him as "Mike Breezy." (see attached Kansas City star article). According to several federal law enforcement sources, Andreas Carl Strassmeir was a paid ATF informant, perhaps even agent provocateur, from about 1991 onward. His name is "like a rash" on the ATF Indices computer database. Also, Michael Brescia is said by a law enforcement source in the Philadelphia area to have been "an ATF agent provocateur." Once at Elohim City, Brescia settled in as Strassmeir's roomie and sometime boyfriend (although he always had girls on the outside apparently) of Esther Millar, Robert Millar's strikingly beautiful granddaughter. But according to one source who has left Elohim City, there's beast in the beauty. "She's a coldhearted white supremacist bitch," said the source. Indeed, there is circumstantial evidence to suggest that Esther may have been part of the bombing herself. Sources in the Philadelphia area have reportedly seen Esther and Brescia together, though why the FBI can't find them (according to their account) is somewhat of a mystery. One wonders if they require the militia to locate and apprehend Brescia and deliver him to the Oklahoma authorities, who are said to be more eager to pursue John Doe #2 than are the feds. Will they charge us with "kidnapping" if we do? Coming up next in JOHN DOE #2 IDENTIFIED: WHO IS WILLIAM PETRUSKIE?, OR: "WHAT'S A CIA SPOOK LIKE YOU DOING IN A BOMBING CONSPIRACY LIKE THIS?" AND WE'LL ALSO TRY TO ANSWER THE QUESTION: WHAT DOES MENA, ARKANSAS HAVE TO DO WITH OKLAHOMA CITY? PLENTY. Attachment to JD2 IDENTIFIED, Part Three. THE KANSAS CITY STAR June 23, 1996 Sunday METROPOLITAN EDITION SECTION: NATIONAL/WORLD; Pg. A1 The picture of hope and persistence ; Grandparents of bombing victims seek John Doe 2. BY: JUDY L. THOMAS, Staff Writer HERINGTON, Kan. - Kathy Wilburn's face tensed as Barbara Whittenberg took a sheet of paper from her and looked carefully at the black-and-white photograph on it. "It's close," said Whittenberg, as she scrutinized a picture of a young man with dark hair and thick eyebrows. "Very close." Kathy and Glenn Wilburn are looking for John Doe No. 2, the elusive subject of an on-again off-again search by federal authorities investigating the Oklahoma City bombing, which took the lives of the Wilburns' two grandchildren. Last week the Wilburns hit the streets of Herington, the home of bombing suspect Terry Nichols, and Junction City, Kan., where bombing suspect Timothy McVeigh and John Doe No. 2 allegedly rented the Ryder truck used in the bombing. The Wilburns carry with them a picture they just got of a man they think looks like the shadowy suspect. "We first started asking questions on April 19, when we were in the waiting room of the hospital," said Kathy Wilburn. The Oklahoma City couple has become so consumed with attempts to find John Doe No. 2 that Glenn Wilburn has put aside his work as an accountant to focus full-time on their investigation. "Sometimes we'd like to go on," said Kathy Wilburn, as she adjusted the bracelet on her left wrist bearing the names of her grandsons, Chase and Colton. "But there's no reason to until we find out who did it." Last week was their third trip to Herington. Armed with a video camera, tape recorder and note pads, they have tracked down people who claim to have seen others with McVeigh prior to and the morning of the bombing. A few weeks ago, the Wilburns even drove to Wheatland, Wyo., to talk to a former Herington woman who said she had been to parties in 1992 with McVeigh and others. They've even slept in the Dreamland Motel in Junction City, where McVeigh allegedly stayed in the days before the bombing. "We found out the first time we came here that there's a lot of information up here that has been overlooked," Glenn Wilburn said. Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Mullins in Oklahoma City said Friday that the government still is searching for accomplices. However, the intensity of the manhunt for John Doe No. 2 has abated since last spring, when at least 12 look-alikes were detained. Authorities haven't released a new sketch in more than a year. The picture the Wilburns were showing is of Michael Brescia, a former Philadelphia college student. What interests the Wilburns is that at the time of the bombing, Brescia lived at Elohim City, a white separatist compound in the Ozark foothills of eastern Oklahoma. Last May, it was revealed that bombing suspect Timothy McVeigh called Elohim City two weeks before the bombing, looking for a former German army officer who lived there. Brescia was the roommate of that officer. Brescia's whereabouts today are unknown. A man who answered the phone at the home of Brescia's parents in Philadelphia declined comment. Federal investigators won't comment on whether Brescia is a suspect, but Elohim City founder and patriarch Robert Millar said Friday that authorities have asked about Brescia in connection with the bombing investigation. "We've had some conversations with the government about Mike," Millar said. "We're doing everything we can to cooperate with the investigation and find out the truth." Millar wouldn't discuss what authorities wanted to know about Brescia. But Millar said that he didn't believe Brescia could have been John Doe No. 2, who has been described as a muscular man with dark hair and olive skin and a tattoo on his arm. He said Brescia was about five-foot seven with dark brown hair. "He's fair-skinned and freckled," Millar said. "He didn't have an olive complexion, and he didn't have great big muscles and shoulders." Millar said Brescia lived at Elohim City with Andreas Strassmeir, a former lieutenant in the West German armed forces, or Bundeswehr. Strassmeir left the camp last August, Millar said. "He was here with Andi for more than a year," Millar said. Millar said Brescia learned of Elohim City through an Aryan Nations leader from eastern Pennsylvania. Dennis Mahon, a former Northmoor resident and imperial dragon of the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, said he knew Brescia as well. Mahon said he used to spend weekends at Elohim City, where he would shoot at targets with Brescia. "Every time I went out to Elohim City he was there," Mahon said. "The guy I knew as Mike looked very similar to John Doe 2 in the face, but not his body. He wasn't that muscular. He had a couple small tattoos, but close to his wrist." Mahon, who now lives in Catoosa, Okla., said federal authorities have called twice in connection with the bombing, but he referred them to his attorney. He wouldn't elaborate on their questioning. Elohim City first came under scrutiny after it was revealed last May that McVeigh called the compound on April 5 and asked for Strassmeir. Other Elohim City connections have cropped up as well. The day of the bombing, Richard Wayne Snell, a white supremacist and murderer, was executed by the state of Arkansas. Millar, who served as Snell's spiritual adviser, took his body back and buried it at Elohim City. The Oklahoma City bombing occurred not only on the same date that Snell was executed, but also on the second anniversary of the fire at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. In Herington and Junction City on Thursday, some said the picture of Brescia could have been the man they saw with McVeigh in the days leading up to the bombing. But others said they weren't sure. Among them was one of the employees of Elliott's Body Shop in Junction City, where the Ryder truck was allegedly rented. "He certainly thought it was possible that it was him," Glenn Wilburn said. In their quest, however, the Wilburns have been criticized for working with militias and for raising questions that could poke holes in the prosecution's case which, ironically, may help McVeigh's defense. "Some of the families feel like we're traitors, but they haven't seen what we've seen," Glenn Wilburn said. "And there's no way this could help McVeigh. If bringing down other guys helps him avoid the death penalty, then so be it. I'd rather have that happen than have others go free." If that means more trips to Herington and Junction City, the Wilburns are prepared to make them. Already, they're becoming familiar faces around both towns. "Did you get the recipes I sent you? " Kathy Wilburn asked Whittenberg as she left her Herington diner on Thursday. "Yes, but I haven't had time to try them yet," Whittenberg replied. The women hugged, tears forming in their eyes. Then the Wilburns climbed into their 1985 Mercedes and headed down the road to pursue another lead.
